Confirmer Service - Supporting Nurses

From April 2016, the NMC expect nurses and midwives to seek confirmation that they have completed their revalidation portfolio from an appropriate person. This person will act as their Confirmer. NMC advise an appropriate person is a direct Line Manager, an NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife, or a Regulated Healthcare Professional. NMC also advises that practitioners should obtain their confirmation through the organisation where they undertake the majority of their work.

Agency nurses may work across a variety of practice settings, including hospitals, private health clinics or general practice and they may find it difficult to identify an appropriate person or Line Manager to act as their confirmer.

NHSE Framework requires that Agency Suppliers appoint or nominate a suitable & appropriate Confirmer for any Temporary Agency Workers who are registered nurses or registered midwives to have a confirmation discussion with, in which they can demonstrate that their Nursing and Midwifery Council’s requirements for revalidation have been met.

NURSSU will allocate an NMC registered senior nurse to act in the capacity of an appropriate person, who can undertake Confirmer meetings with nurses, to act objectively and independently in forming a view that the nurse or midwife has completed the mandatory requirements of the revalidation process. This service costs £75.00 for all practitioners.

When a nurse refers to NURSSU, our administrative team will liaise with them to acquire their Revalidation Portfolio for review and arrange a convenient date with one of our NMC registered nurses to hold a Confirmer Meeting.
